Posts from: Space, Time, and Deity Redux

Ask someone “What time is it?” and the response will be without hesita-tion. However, ask “What is time?” and you will get a different response. The answer to this second question and others – such as “What is the true nature of space? – are presented in an understandable manner for the non-specialist. The author compares what he calls the common meaning of the words time and space, then reconsiders both from a deeper more formal, yet understandable, perspective. Similarly, in parts 2 and 3 the author takes on the topics of perception and reality, and consciousness and Deity, respectively.
Although modern cosmology has many questionable notions, enough of it is established to the point where rethinking our place in the universe is both desirable and necessary. This includes reconsidering our notions about qualities of deity. The author has taken the position that current knowledge of the vastness of the universe and the unexpected strange-ness of the micro-world as revealed by quantum theory require that we rethink some of our most strongly held beliefs. We need to remember that many of our beliefs originated thousands of years in the past, in a setting of an exceedingly small universe, where earth was the center of that universe.
As this work progresses, it becomes increasingly conceptual and speculative such that it is safe to say, some things that now seem complex will be simplified and some things that seem simple will become more complex. As the author states in the preface, “Portions of this book may be common knowledge to some, new and novel to some, and, possibly, completely absurd to some. Of course, the same reader could have all three experiences.”

>Since it is possible that some readers may not be interested in the complete book, I have split it into two separate books. The one titled – Spacetime, Reality, and Perception – consists to parts 1 and 2 of the complete book, while the other contains some of part 1 and all of part 3 from the complete book.
